Job Placement and Career Support After Graduation: How We Help You Get Hired

At Texas School of Phlebotomy, our commitment to students doesn’t end when the course is over. We provide job placement and career support for graduates to help them transition smoothly from training to employment. Finding a job after graduation can feel overwhelming, but with our resources and employer connections, we make the process easier.

Resume Assistance & Job Leads

During class, we provide hands-on support to help you build and refine your resume. A strong, well-structured resume is the first step to standing out in the job market.

Once your resume is complete, you’ll automatically receive job leads for 180 days that match your training. These job leads are sent through our system—even on holidays—ensuring that you never miss an opportunity to apply for a great position.

Connections to Employers

Being an established school in the area for over 12 years, we have built strong relationships with local employers. Many healthcare facilities specifically look for our graduates when hiring because they trust the quality of our training. We also notify students anytime an employer reaches out with immediate job openings.

Job Fairs & Community Opportunities

We keep students informed about job fairs and hiring events happening in the community. Attending these events gives graduates the chance to meet employers, network, and apply for positions on the spot. We are committed to providing job placement and career support for our graduates.

How to Increase Your Chances of Getting Hired Quickly

At Texas School of Phlebotomy, we not only provide job leads, but we also guide students on how to stand out in the hiring process. Here are some key steps to take to improve your chances of landing a job as soon as possible after graduation.

Start Applying Immediately

Your resume is a graded assignment during class, meaning you’ll receive valuable feedback from your instructor to ensure it’s polished and professional. Once you’ve made the necessary corrections, we strongly encourage you to start applying for jobs right away. The sooner you begin submitting applications, the faster you’ll secure interviews and potential job offers.

Stay Connected with Us

We love to hear from our students after graduation! If you’re in the job search process, we encourage you to keep in touch and let us know how things are going. Whether you need additional guidance or want to share your success, our team is here to support you.

Stand Out with a Handwritten Thank-You Note

One of the best ways to leave a lasting impression after an interview is by sending a handwritten thank-you note to your interviewer. While many candidates send follow-up emails, a handwritten note stands out and keeps you top of mind for hiring managers.

Taking these small but significant steps can make all the difference in securing a position in the healthcare field. For more encouragement, check out our blog post, Don’t Let Experience Hold You Back, which discusses the importance of taking that first step with confidence.

Can You Get a Job Before You Even Finish the Course? Absolutely!

We frequently see students secure job offers before they even complete their training. Those who take responsibility for their success, follow the guidance we provide, and apply early often find themselves stepping into a new job immediately after graduation.

One recent student who comes to mind is Jacob. During class, he spoke with his instructor about his career goals and interests in the phlebotomy field. His instructor recognized that Jacob’s strengths made him a great fit for a mobile phlebotomy position

Because of our strong industry connections, we reached out to a mobile phlebotomy company, and Jacob was able to interview during the course. The result? He secured a position and started his new job the week after graduation!

This is just one of many examples of students who take full advantage of the resources we provide. But here’s the key takeaway:

Students who succeed are the ones who take responsibility for their own future.

We provide all the tools, guidance, and connections—but it’s up to you to act on them.

By applying early, networking with instructors and classmates, and following job search strategies, students can dramatically increase their chances of landing a job before or right after graduation

Avoid These Common Mistakes When Job Searching

While we provide students with job leads, resume support, and connections to employers, landing a job is ultimately in your hands. Some graduates quickly secure positions, while others struggle—often due to a few common mistakes.

Mistake #1: Waiting Too Long to Apply

One of the biggest mistakes we see is waiting to apply for jobs. Some students think they need to wait until they finish class or pass the NHA exam before submitting applications. The truth is, the earlier you start applying, the better your chances of securing a job right after graduation—or even before!

💡 Solution: Don’t wait. Apply during class as soon as your instructor has reviewed your resume. Many employers are willing to hire phlebotomy students with the expectation that they’ll complete training soon.

Mistake #2: Being Too Selective Too Soon

Another mistake is being too picky about which positions to apply for or accept. Some graduates only want a perfect schedule, location, or pay rate and end up turning down great opportunities.

💡 Solution: Apply early and apply often. Your first job may not be your dream job, but it’s a stepping stone. Many students who accept their first job quickly advance within the company or build experience that leads to better opportunities.

A real-world example:

A graduate may take a position at a plasma center, and within months, they’re offered a hospital job because of the hands-on experience they gained. The hospital job they landed, offered tuition reimbursement and now the student is on her way to becoming a nurse and doesn’t have to pay for the schooling. Even better, the student has a guaranteed position after finishing nursing school.

If you keep waiting for the “perfect” job, you might miss out on a great opportunity to gain experience and grow in your career.
